Economics was an interesting challenge but I’m glad I have that experience under my belt. My next unit is on the presidency, and I’m currently about a week into it. It’s nice to not be working with numbers and theory and actual government content.
The actual in-the-classroom-teaching has been going pretty well. The novelty of having a student teacher has definitely worn off and the behavior is more erratic than it was a couple weeks ago. I haven’t had any specific or pervasive behavior problems, for which I’m grateful.
The most challenging aspect has definitely been the planning. There is usually so much I feel like I can do with each lesson but the time just isn’t there to do what I want. Sometimes I feel like I’m taking the easy way out or letting down my students when I make certain decisions regarding my lessons, but I don’t think they notice. It’s just a matter of what I know I can do.
I am getting better at planning, I know that much for sure. I usually don’t sit and stare at a blank computer screen for very long when I’m trying to write lesson plans. I can usually formulate something to do..I’m just worried I’m repeating myself too much or being too boring.
