Every weekend I’m going to post one idea or activity that I am going to do to improve myself as a teacher. It may not directly relate to teaching but it will somehow correspond to a skill that I think I need to improve in order to become a better teacher. I’m a big believer in constant growth and the weekend is a great time to focus on doing something to make myself a better educator that I might not have the time or energy for during the week.
This weekend, I’m going to continue reading Theodore Rex by Edmund Morris. As a social studies teacher, devouring as much content relevant information is important to me. Not only am I brushing up on this era in American history, I think being familiar with Theodore Roosevelt’s life provides a rich vein of interesting and inspirational stories I can tell students.
It doesn’t have to be a huge project or a time consuming activity, but what are you doing this weekend to improve yourself as a teacher?
