About

I am a recent graduate of Bowling Green State University (May 2009) with a degree in Secondary Education, Integrated Social Studies.  I was unsuccessful in finding full-time employment in Southeast Michigan over the summer, so I am currently substitute teaching.  In fact, I spend most of my time teaching at the same high school I went to– and two of my younger brothers still attend.

I am doing my best to put myself into a variety of teaching situations and experiences to best prepare myself for a classroom of my own in the near future.   This blog serves as a repository for my thoughts and reflections on teaching, pedagogy, social studies, and anything else related to my life as a professional.

First and foremost, I want it to serve as a kind of journal of my maturation as a teacher. Twenty years from now, I think it will be interesting to go back and read about some of the seemingly trivial things I was worried about as well as see how my frame of mind has changed.

This is a very good idea. Only scratch out “twenty years” and replace it with “six months.”

A community of new teachers that may interest you is Sup Teach?

    Good luck.
